Debbi Scheusler, Program Director at Melwood, has a lifelong connection to horses, tracing her passion back five generations in her family. With extensive experience in various equestrian roles across the country, Debbi has managed boarding barns, driven horse-drawn carriage tours, hauled horses professionally, and worked as a vet tech in multiple states, including Alaska, Kansas, and Oklahoma. She studied Pre-Vet and Equine Management at Kansas State University, laying a strong foundation in animal care. In 2013, Debbi joined the Melwood Equestrian Program and was instrumental in the 2021 merger of Melwood and Promise Landing Farm.
Debbi’s work is characterized by organization, determination, and focus, and she brings humility, selflessness, and attentive listening to her interactions. Her "why" for being at Promise Landing Farm is rooted in her passion for sharing the transformative impact that horses can have. She realized, after joining the Melwood team, just how much the presence of horses can benefit people, and she is committed to making that experience accessible to all.
One of Debbi’s favorite aspects of Promise Landing Farm is witnessing the joy and healing that the horses bring to participants of all ages. She believes Promise Landing Farm serves a vital role in providing a space where people can simply be around horses and experience the profound sense of peace and connection that they offer. Through her work, Debbi is dedicated to fostering a place where horses can continue to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.
